In Seoul, South Korea, has opened the renowned GT Torre Este. Designed by ArchitectenConsort Dutch office, located in Rotterdam, the GT Tower This will form an architectural unity with the West Tower GT still be built. With its sleek facade of undulating glass, the new skyscraper brings a fascinating contrast to the angular architecture of the Korean capital.
The shape and positioning of the building of 130 meters high are the impressive result of the vision of the architects Peter and Edgar Couwnbergh ArchitectenConsort Bosman. They chose a uniform finish to the front glass, which has resulted in a pure and organic. The undulating motion of the fronts delivers optical changes when it passes by the side of the building. Combined with the light reflection in the glass, this gives the building a special appearance and iconic. This dynamic appearance of the GT Tower This is reinforced by the view of the building, which seems to be lléndose down into the street. As if the building had come from Korean soil and then grown in a dance movement to the infinite sky.
Within its 54,000 m2, the GT Tower This reaches a wide range of purposes.
In addition to the functional office space, there is room for commercial and cultural as well as parking. ArchitecturalConsort plant used a flexible basis, responding to growing demand for buildings that maintain their value over time. The architects achieved this highly adaptive capability completely without compromising the design, and large spaces were created to allow the building to host a variety of applications in the future. Many sustainability measures were incorporated into the design, including a well-insulated facade, installing solar panels for power generation, and lots of natural light and ventilation to create a pleasant working environment.
Architects Carry a preliminary investigation into the construction of the glass facade and the effect of wave motion. The effect of movement of the volume was achieved by turning the floor surface around the two diagonals of up to three meters. This shift came two and a half times over the height of the building, so that each wave is 48 meters. The advantage of this design is that the columns are located just over one another and the cantilever can be achieved only with the reinforcement within the same dimensions of slab. Additionally, the construction of the facade can be completed without any union, since all fronts move in parallel. To avoid breaking the vertical lines of the facade, interrupting horizontal segments, the architects of heaven compressed into the exterior facade to the size of a window frame. Using this method prevents the installation of opaque glass panels or fixed, which benefits both inside and outside appearance as well. The pattern and design chosen for the vertical window frame ensures a fine balance with blue glass panels semi-reflection. Window frames also brings form, emphasizing the infinite movement upwards.
In contrast to the surrounding buildings, the GT Tower This has been set back line of the building. Thus, designers were able to create a new urban space that is used on the street level to build an attractive outdoor area submerged. This, also called “plaza buried”, provides visitors with a protection from wind and road noise, and is a pleasant environment to relax, with access to shops and restaurants. In the area of ??access at street level, the vertical set of lines of the tower is cut by a canopy and returns the human scale. Along with the high degree of transparency, this made the entry is very accessible. The perception is enhanced by natural stone on the sidewalk, which continue into the lobby in a striped pattern. ArchitectenConsort design is also recognizable in the interior. The central lobby and the business lobby have their own individual character, but they are undeniably connected. The direct and indirect light is used to emphasize the experience of the varied uses of the building. Inside, the play of light play an important role not only as a light source but also as decorative elements.
