Kapla The Village was developed by Architects Yaj based on wood blocks Kapla. Located in Sweden, is located on a hillside on the island Lidingö in Stockholm. The combination of sustainable design and use of clean technologies, make a house very energy efficient. The project was commissioned to replace the former home of a family in which parents also work. Their requirements were used as input to project a clean image, box, contemporary wood siding and reuse of the structure of the original basement.
Thus, the building retains a single exterior material, solid wood, which also covers the floors. The interior walls are completely white, except in the rooms of the third level, which are painted according to the taste of each family member with strong colors. In total it has 350 m2 on three levels: in the first is a large kitchen, between the atrium and the central stair access. Attached to it was provided a garden for vegetables that seeks to promote this way of living green, with areas designated for recycling and waste separation.
The house has large windows and glass doors, which keep a constant eye contact between the interior and exterior. The architects wanted to enhance the feeling of space through the continuity of spaces in form, material and views, and also contrast with some large spaces more intimate, creating “spatial surprises.” Not everything can be seen from a first glance.
Rather than separate the compounds based on their roles, trying to generate more continuous spaces, adjusting their privacy or seclusion visual or acoustic operations.
