The new fire station is a milestone that kicks off the street Stakkevollveien. On the ground floor – overlooking the street are the fire trucks along with related functions, while the top floor – overlooking the street Forsøket – are public facilities, the division of prevention, monitoring room, the rooms of the quota and exercise room. The topography of the site is exposed by a continuous wall that separates the lower level. Large glass doors garage type pass through the wall exposing the emergency vehicles, while the flag fleet literalemnte on the wall. The surface of the facade of the pavilion is PC insulating panels in orange. The color and the material gives the building a distinctive character that stands in the urban landscape. The combination enhances the symbolic effect with the station, both in content and form.

The fire station is a two-story building with a mezzanine in the garage of cars. The low relative height of the structure is not dominant over the other buildings, mostly residential, in the south and west. The duality of the building is remarkable both in form and content; emergency vehicles belonging to the hardness of the concrete walls and glass doors, while the contingent employees and belong to the lightness of the pavilion.

The tower is a property of great importance and is given a distinctive design, the building’s blown east tower gives a dynamic character. Inside the fire station is designed with great attention to the functionality of the building. The details and color are off, and it was important to create a unified image for the station in general and the garage of the fire trucks in particular. The emergency area on the lower level is flat, uncluttered and clear. Programs at the top and vertical communications are connected to the “street” that runs throughout the building, which allowed near the garages at all times in case the alarm sounds.

The station has a main entrance and two side at the top level, all equipped with glass facades, but only the front door is characterized by its awning. For the main access to the south, you can enter the public area has a long picture window facing the valley Tromsdalen, while the administration takes the sections of the media. The monitoring room, the room, and fitness rooms are located in the northern section of the building with quick access to emergency dressing. The dining room is in the transition area between the administration (day use) and areas of continuous use. Transparency and visibility inside is emphasized in order to ensure good perceptions of the outside at all times. The interior is kept neutral and bright, with light gray floor, white walls and a simple system of heat, also white. The main hall of the upper level has a wall of orange giving the main character of the building line of communication.
