Here we present the proposed office Aedas R & D in collaboration with Thornton Tomasetti and Phaconsult. The conceptual development of the project came from the effect generated by a stone thrown in water. This rippling effect was taken to develop the general form and the envelope of the tower. La Torre is “woven” into the new park accessible by a series of ripples that form terraces and bridges that link it to landscape. The structure comes out of the park and rises to a height of 370 meters. Aedas R & D and Thornton Tomasetti designed a parametric model to control the shape of the tower, optimize space and determine the number, size, and distribution of structural belts. Tapes harboring the tower also function structurally, the largest loads are smaller and become more rigid structure.

The same tapes that define the height of the structure, define its base. This is broader and tapes provide a smooth and continuous transition between the horizontal and vertical landscape of the tower it provides an entrance hall and museum manager. The offices are accessed in a separate set of walkways that lead to higher levels. At the top, has a restaurant and looked, by way of droplets in the air before falling back.

The team sought to reduce the energy footprint of the tower incorporating passive design strategies in various parts of the building. The design allows for natural light and air to a depth of slabs. The central atrium is also a measure to allow ventilation of the tower. Aedas R & D also implements the use of solar energy systems and wind harvesting rainwater, geothermal heat pumps and biofuel crop through cultivation of algae.
