The Sports Pavilion is designed recently by MoederscheimMoonen Architects for two football clubs in Rotterdam. The project is part of the development of 16Hoven Park, a great new neighborhood, located near the city center and airport.

In the open space between the airport and the new houses developed in the park, the design objective is to create a transparent and “lightweight” flag. The building is set on two levels. The clubs and the boards are on the top floor of the building. This level is directly connected to the heights through outstanding gardens. These slopes cover the ground floor and storage areas, providing a natural grandstand for spectators.

The final area of the building is translucent and has an overhanging roof. The roof leaks in direct sunlight and illuminates and provides light at night thanks to the integration of LED lighting. The building makes a difference, becoming an icon of their direct environment for the continuous contour of the roof construction and lighting.
