Shimogamo House is a Designed by Edward Suzuki Architects in a style that evokes the Japanese tradition but at the same time adapting to the needs and tastes.
Since the connection between interior and exterior, which symbolizes the bond between man and nature so dear to the Orientals, this connection is made here by a trick called “interface”, ie partitions that let the light in the case of the circular glass and also leave room for conversation with neighbors in the case of the bamboo.
Within these “interfaces”, created to address the problem of all modern lack of privacy due to overcrowding, are placed plants and green spaces, visible from inside the house as required by the owners.
The interior, where traditional materials like bamboo, rice paper, stone are abundantly used, the Japanese style simple, restful, orderly and recognizable, but still contaminated by the contemporary West in the design and allocation of space.
