The cottage is located on top of a rocky hill, 35 m above sea level, On the shores of Peninsula Fosen, Norway. The building was carefully located and designed in relation to the local terrain, the panoramic view and the specific and changing weather conditions in the area.
It is inspired by traditional Norwegian homesWhere outdoor spaces, flexible and semi-heated and clear organization are the principles of architecture. Thus, a variety of protected outdoor enable a dynamic and friendly between the cabin and its surrounding landscape. Furthermore, the design aims to address and use the traditional system of local construction.
The body of building rests comfortably on the small hill and hug the rocks Property polished. A small annex atrium helps to define and protect access outdoor the cold and wind.
The kitchen is the backbone housing and connecting the different rooms. The bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the back of the cabin, overlooking the plains of Vardehaugen. In contrast, living is at the other end and acts as an observatory, Where it has an ocean view in three directions and can enjoy the sun’s path from the couch.
To give greater protection to the hut, black roof folds and walls becomes more exposed in directions. These walls are arranged at an angle which slows access to the winds. Access and outdoor living spaces these walls are replaced by rough, dark and smooth white surfaces.
