The assignment was to design a home nursing for elderly woman who wants to live alone in the field. This determined the simplicity of the program was the result of a process reductionist which sought to bring the domestic habits of the user to a minimum so as to require a permanent relationship with the landscape.

The house is situated on a plot of pleasure located 60km south of Santiago , in the town of Paine. The land has an area of 5,000 m2 which is divided into two equal parts due to a channel that crosses it. The project is located north of the canal , along which was a former field baby- football . This location allows the home advantage of the breadth of the garden while being guarded by a number of willows bordering the canal on the west facade .

The program consists of a bedroom suite, a living area with kitchenette and a terrace. The proportions of the compounds were studied in a way that favored the amplitude of the bedroom above the area living because of the lifestyle that the owner described.

The volume of the project appeals to the simplicity of a coating rustic unit that covers the entire outer surface providing a quality objetual home that supports dramatically robust on the ground. The main entrance is seen as a abduction mass the overall volume , leaving a central void that defines , both in plan and elevation, the boundary between public and private housing.

Among the requirements principal there was a contradiction that affected the design in its initial stage . On the one hand, it was necessary to resolve a plant in a single level ( no stairs ) and ideally at ground level to prevent an elderly person could be injured going up and down stairs. Moreover, it was necessary to raise the house of the land due to the humidity produced by a swamp near a canal. For these two reasons , the house offers two ways to access . The main consists of level four steps located in the vacuum central described above. The secondary access is proposed as an extension garden to the terrace . This is solved by means of a ramp of grass that is contained by the extension of the foundation run perimeter and connects the finished floor interior of the terrace with ground level natural . In this way an older person can be accessed without climbing stairs.

The materiality of the project is pine wood in finishing gross (without brushing). This was resolved structure and the coating at a time. Added to this are elements of concrete foundations and fittings metal encounters beams with partitions . As the house no has eaves, should be strengthened through fittings the meeting walls and roof structure . These knots are not appreciated in the final result that to be hidden was achieved better package insulation in the housing and , in turn , is looking for an interior finish as clean as possible to contrast with the raw wood from abroad.
