The project located in Aguas Claras, Cachagua, in a mixed forest of pine and acacia over 20 meters. The volume is 7.5 m x 3.2 m x 5m. The idea is to create a space that have kitchen, bathroom, dining room and bedroom, a minimum space (30m2) with a low budget ($ 6000 total housing, $ 200 m2). This budget constraint decided to do a loft that serves as a bedroom.
The roof is black and dark brown paint to catch the maximum heat. This is not a problem in summer as in Chile’s central coast air temperature is low so in a wooden building with only open the windows, the house cooled quickly. The work performed by a single teacher in two months. Wood siding used for plate and shell structural plywood paneling to which they were given a wash of white enamel.
The attic room has a generous, which accessed via a ladder that uses minimal space. The terrace becomes an extension of the living room where developed a lot of the activities from October to April, the warmest months. The only windows that open located in the stern and the bow of the house, creating a venturi effect, which produced by the prominent angle of the sky.
The dry garden using stone materials (sorghum, small shells and stones from the sea), the same natural terrain trees (which require no irrigation) and cacti native to the area (which are resistant to soil acidity).
