The residence Salop Gelman is a new home on land overlooking the Potomac River on a large artificial lake spillway with a gentle sideways and fast hard on the other. The game’s overall design was a garden path that forked the house literally creating endless trail out to experience the waters divided as the main entrance. Nature as the main gate was the key.
On one side there is a large living room, dining room, kitchen and master bedroom suite. The path to the other side continues down a long tunnel through the media room to the other side containing 3 rooms and an office. The whole house is also a reflection of the silver clouds and “rolling hills“.
The large overhang of the roof is in direct function of passive income in the winter and shade in the summer complete. Sustainable design is functional implemented through the metaphors of water and nature views. It is highly insulated, heated and cooled passively, as well as equipped with a solar water heating. All skin uses low power consumption in labor with brushed aluminum, indigenous stone and glass. The interior is made of selected wood and plywood.
