Salamanca town hall – Mario Carreño Zunino, Piera Sartori Field

The city of Salamanca is located in an agricultural valley interior, at the beginning of Choapa River Basin. A landscape of vertical sides and a long strip defines arid crop. This project opens a new high for the city, low construction. This high proportion is not a tower, which is understood from the outside are five stories that we understand as an interior in relation to the valley.

The site is adjacent to the Plaza de Armas. The first instinct was to take public land and from the thinking of the building as part of an urban area, related to the distant and immediate public spaces.

The building is settled with an extended tour, which runs from the village up to a terrace on the top floor, through a gap opened inside the landscape, which brings together the various municipal services.

Two independent structures apart and melt from the ground floor with half a mismatch in the inner distance and connecting the floors of both parties, you insert a ramp system complemented by two staircases, one at each end, which serve as shortcuts to the teams and the public.

This whole area receives a lot of people daily, there converges programmatic complexity, consolidating the public character of the building at the meeting that the interior route proposed for a community that is known, in a town of no more than twelve thousand inhabitants. All plants are free this space, work and received the public in a cordial way, is the distant landscape through traffic relaxed the building offers to its inhabitants.

The physical attributes of the interior to light, was vented convection – taking air in a yard and pulling underground and above-illuminated naturally with a flashlight at the top of the trail and a glazed wall facing north, with a wing 6 meters wide regulating the taking of light in winter and summer, the geometric relationship with the solar tour.

This upward travel from urban land to the fourth floor, ranging from programs that receive more public and more open to the community, even more privacy and independence.
