Restaurant Santa Rita – Pedro Pacheco
The site involved is located in the historic center of Lisbon, on the ground floor of an old building. It is a very common type in these buildings, characterized by a single space defined by three areas vaulted with stone masonry and solid brick vaults.
Its maximum height of 4.15 m and 16 m long and 5.5 meters wide, with a total area of ??102 m2. One of the openings are in direct contact with the street, through two doors, and the other is connected to an airy patio.
The proposed architecture intends to remodel the existing space to house a restaurant, maintaining and evaluating its space and the architectural qualities: keep reading longitudinal vaulted space, characterized by arches and pillars of limestone.
The project options are then from the need to create a separate layer element and simultaneously connect the dining room and kitchen, freeing visually arches and vaults over all space, light and reflections and enter the room .
This element-screen is defined by a set of white lacquered glass panels, lined with stone arches, which contain different areas of work in the kitchen and bathrooms, restricting access to service areas and defining the new image and atmosphere of the restaurant.
The light from the street becomes part of the internal atmosphere, as the images of their movement are reflected and projected onto the screen. At the same time, LED interior lighting, indirect and suspended, fills the room with different colors and regulates its temperature.
