The customer approached the architects of Farnan Findlay Architects after watching a play at the site adjacent to yours. They were commissioned to create a structure to take advantage of the exceptional sea views from the south and east of the field. Should allow ample amenities for family visits but constant while maintaining the privacy of the owner and future meet accessibility needs.
Inserted between tea trees with stunning views over the mouth of the Moyne River and Bass Strait , the architects created is made detached house which is divided into two main zones , the zone of morning light and the dark area in the afternoon . The division of public and private spaces in the form of the project led, manifesting itself in two volumes when viewed from the outside. Within 50 meters of water, a stone plinth is clear from their environment to create a platform on which rests the superstructure.
The house is oriented according to the inputs of sunlight on one side and overlooking the sea on the other . Frame certain views and exclude the neighboring houses was the main objective of the proposal, influencing the position of openings. Built with durable materials that fade to gray over time, the house will go with their environment mimicking rock and trees of the area, while the crystals reflect and multiply the changes of the ocean and sky.
To sharpen the strong expression of the volumes, the interventions were minimized on the surfaces of the walls, reducing the glazed area and arranging them in order to generate uniform and balanced facades that help moderate the climate and frame particular views. The external form was developed from the idea of two areas: one is a private haven for sleeping , protected by mobile screens outside, and the other is a more outgoing and expressive volume , marked by the openings and outdoor spaces .
The internal movement is via a lift , while an external staircase wraps around the house, creating a shortcut to and from the ground with all levels. The main movement on the ground floor consists of a central corridor between the 2 volumes, where foreign materials are replicated within, reinforcing the separation of programs.
