This is a house of refuge built in the city of Piracicaba, 250 km away from São Paulo. It aims to be the meeting point for a family whose members are scattered across several cities. The 2,000 m2 (21,500 m2) of land are the result of the union of two corner lots in a gated community. Not only the position of the house took into account the slope of the land, but also its orientation (north) to provide the rooms and social areas the best possible sunlight.
The distribution in 3 plants arranged in perpendicular axes allows the movement of land would be natural, and makes the garden is accessible from any floor: The lower floor, is semi ground and lands on the lower level of the earth, parallel to the contour lines, home to the houses storage areas, engine room and garage – from where the pillars of grid.
The ground floor, arranged as an L and accessible from the street through an S-shaped ramp, contains the service areas and the living room – the latter, completely enclosed by glass, which on one hand gives the back of the ground and mixes with the pool deck throughout the sliding doors, and on the other hand, is protected from the sun and away from the street by large vertical concrete slabs, unevenly positioned to along the entire facade.
Upstairs, a volume that extends perpendicular to the contour of the land and, at one end, becomes an overhang into the street, and the other is planted in the upper part of the land. This floor contains the bedrooms and living room – the last opening to a large wooden deck that is built on the roof slab of the living-dining room. The pool is snug in the corner of “L” formed by the social and service areas, and the slope of the higher sections of the earth.
