The project is a gastronomic field pavilion in Navarra, Spain. Its main distinguishing feature is due to the design of ventilated facade “reeds” green surrounding it. Designed by architects Vail + Irigaray The structure serves as an innovative space for events that allows users to sit in a bamboo forest, while activities such as dinner or dancing. The green tubes lining the room are made from recycled plastic, simulating a natural perimeter, complementing this green border, one of the walls of the building is partially covered with real vegetation.
The organizational structure reflects a similar pattern to that of organizational structures. Set addresses of order and geometry shapes using “soft” and spatial processing tends to unify the space through a permeable border and airy. The pavilion is made from a variety of tubes similar to the natural colors, which like rushes, organizing a flexible layout, deformable organic and able to adapt to any situation and geometry.
The new space is conceived as a continuation of the existing shrub vegetation, wrapping it all, but hidden: expressing their new identity, not as constructed element, but as a reforested. The intention is apparently a new plant species sprouting in place, involving a new space. For this same reason the intervention was maintained within a similarity in terms of scale with respect to existing plant items.
Inside, the space is continuous and highly illuminated by natural daylight, it is transmitted from strategically placed skylights. The floor is concrete, thin metal poles supporting the roof, this gives the interior a monochromatic and industrial appearance is complemented by the green outline of reeds. In the middle of the room, a piece of ground has been covered with what looks like a carpet of green glass bottles embedded.
