New Headquarters for PGGM – Matthew Architecture

The project should be expanded, doubling the current area, the headquarters of the Dutch pension fund PGGM in Zeist, near Utrecht.

Our proposal offers three types of interventions:

1_ Release all land adjacent to the existing building, constructing a large underground car park and demolishing various pavilions of service. This allows the emergence of a large private park, shot free circulation, will be the new context for the building.

2_ Inside the great cloister of the current building built in the center released a part of the expansion that would improve the internal connections and activate its center, far too empty. It will be a reflective glass building and stainless steel float.

3_ Outwardly, following the morphology of the existing building in an open, new areas of work use the landscape as a reference created outside next. This project raised the need to increase the area of ??the existing building while to recover large park around it, while maintaining the building’s relationship with the environment. The result is a building that mimics a natural context by creating a visual and aesthetic harmony and integrates the existing building, taking advantage of its possibilities.

The interior has been designed to accommodate the flexibility required by the contemporary corporate activity, offering multiple possibilities spaces that allow workers to choose at every moment the workplace based on their professional and personal needs. He has also worked with a major innovative spirit in the service of sustainability, getting the ventilation systems, to exploit the false ceilings of the building to filter outside air naturally and acclimate well the different spaces, which means big savings and releases energy to the building of pipes and machinery that pollute the environment visually and acoustically workers.
