Responding to a client’s desire to leave the field house as a sculpture in the landscape, Nashville House provides an opportunity to design a modern house in a city with a history of traditional architecture. The vivid white form is integrated into the nature of the terrain with the help of veneered panels. Located on a slope, through a strategic program, the vertical structure of the house is supported by a horizontal appearance.
The two upper levels are cantilevered over the lower two, containing the theater and garage. The use of a “garage door” leads visitors up the slope and brings them down through the two main levels of housing. The master bedroom contained in higher level with library / study, and second bedroom, dominates the living room. Through the glazed walls, you can see through the trees toward the center of the city of Nashville.
