The Dutch architect Arjen ReasTried to incorporate into this project the tradition of the Dutch rustic buildings with simple lines, materials such as stone and plaster and covered with dry grass. The house is located on the edge of town, almost on the periphery. The main challenge was to merge these traditional principles with contemporary design, the idea was mixed through the purest form possible, but just as expressive.
The mixture of two very different materials but recognizable in the Dutch landscape, created a modern yet traditional. The fine texture of straw in combination with smooth white plaster was the material chosen to achieve the objective, the compactness of the coating on the roof gives maximum protection to the material under it to the climate.
One of the priorities in the design of the house was to deliver to its residents the best views of the environment. This was achieved with a lot of openings, not only in their walls but also on the cover, allowing plenty of light entering the precincts. At night it is the house that shines its light abroad marking its presence in the landscape.
Residents can park your car in a subway, which also arranged two storage spaces and direct access to the kitchen. The main entrance is spacious and illuminated through a transparent separation of the kitchen.
