Kanzlei Balkenhol / Ecker Architekten
The existing building is protected by historic preservation laws and renewed through this project to contain office space, a law firm and an accounting firm. Built on a large base, two walls are adorned with decorative stone neo-classical style.
Due to the time it was abandoned, the structural capacity of the floors were no longer satisfied, that is why the entire building was gutted from the basement to the rafters. The external walls and facades are the only elements of the original structure remained intact.
In the rear of this structure is added a new kernel that contains the access, vertical circulation, service areas and restrooms.
The coated aluminum extension is separated by a space trasnparente movement that marks a neutral area between the main historic building and its modern counterpart.
The palette of colors and materials create a harmonious composition of old and new, and restores the shine to a great historic building abandoned.
