Architects Richard Meier & Partners announced the opening of the new corporate headquarters for Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG), the service group’s largest green coffee in the world located in Hamburg, HafenCity AM. The site of the new building is part of a redevelopment of post-industrial port into a center of business, commercial and cultural. Overlooking the Sandtorpark, and the traditional horizon of Hamburg, the glass tower of 12 floors, now called Café Plaza, and two adjacent office buildings, act as an anchor for the new port.

The new location for the company 55 years, is attributed to a desire to participate in the rejuvenation of the port city of history and the NKG reinvention of a modern company that could be represented by a modern and transparent architecture, built by a company respected Richard Meier & Partners. Richard Meier & Partners of NKG and developers had a strict set of requirements to be met, such as municipal zoning and judgments of sustainability by the architects and the client in their attempts to develop both a modern, elegant and green building and sustainable.

The new mechanical systems and facades were designed to reduce energy consumption, as well as the maintenance of natural ventilation and accessibility of the light of day in the work environment. Elevations in the South and West were designed with vertical slats of rotation that minimize heat gain and provide shade for users. The close collaboration between NKG Partnersand Richard Meier and helped maintain the high level that the architect and client struggled to match.

The elliptical tower of 8,000 square meters is a trademark of Richard Meier & Partners, which includes a facade of white and clear glass, a light-filled atrium and office space. The mixed-use tower. The additional attic, labeled as ” sculptural roof, will provide additional conference rooms. The ground floor houses an elegant restaurant. The parking spaces and technicians are in the other three levels underground. The adjacent office buildings are each 5,000 square meters and consists of six floors, terrace, underground parking and the ground floor sales space. The building also includes a collection of large-scale sculptures and paintings, including the largest coffee bean made of bronze.
