Pavilion Hypar is a new restaurant in New York located under a sloping green roof in the newly refurbished Lincoln Center Plaza. The restaurant is the most important part of the remodeling done by Diller Scofidio + RenfroWho were called to design public space, connected to the restaurant next to the office FXFOWLE.
The cover is 7200 m2 green grass and is walkable. Its aim is to prevent the restaurant consume much of the square, to tilt the restaurant have achieved the same level of the street about it, this new public space and its topography.
The cover turns on two opposing corners and has a grand staircase at its lowest point allows up to her and join the rest of the space. It can be used as a lookout or picnic area in front of her mirror available water. The interior contains three separate dining areas and a bar. Eaters can get 160 people at its tables and 40 at the bar. The highest points can cover a wide view of the environment for users while eating.
The Restaurant has 11,000 m2 on two levels with street access from 65th Street and Hearst Plaza. The main floor is built on the same level of the plaza and its transparent walls enhance the continuity between inside and outside.
