Home of Extravaganza Design on Homevaganza: Home of Extravaganza Design

AE House is an exploration of privacy and materiality, located in Lomas de Chapultepec in Mexico City. 3 levels installed at the site of 800 m2. The house use the constraints of the urban plan for the layout design of interior spaces, defying the typical configurations of similar plots in the area. The project offers an alternative to centralized closed volumes and lack of interaction with their site and look outward across courtyards enclosed by walls.

The proposal changes this interaction by moving a large volume to the rear of the site, and leaves a thin volume ahead, creating for example a diagram of the action that allows natural light and ventilation of the spaces through the courtyards. The intersection of the central volume creates a vacuum which opens to the sky. The schema defined by lifting the rear volume and create a family room that becomes the most interesting area of ??the house, located between the front yard and a backyard of gravel. In this space, the length of 40 meters, can be experienced daily by establishing a connection between indoor and outdoor garden.

The layout of the spaces is the functional requirements of customers with clearly defined spaces between, aiming to create a simple and clear in the organization. The social area of ??access to the house is in a white concrete box that opens laterally elongated garden, and back to a flooded patio, while opening with fluidity of movement within the house. The kitchen and service are placed in a position, interacting with two dining areas: the formal and everyday.

The family room, perpendicular to the first block, home to many functions of everyday family life and in this regard was the desire of customers to be one of the main focuses of the project, expressing a new way of life. The private area on the third floor is the bedrooms, its location in the house, great views and perspectives acquired by the lush vegetation of the area bounded by jacaranda and palm trees. The service is in the basement of a functional arrangement, while on the ground floor, privacy is negotiated through walls and sliding doors that allows spatial filtering qualities. On the top floor, the position of the house, like a cross, allowing privacy in the rooms, exposing a minimum front facing the street.

Orientation, views and privacy are the main forces that define the shape, while the sensual and aesthetic conditions of the materials explore the tectonic interaction between the spaces created by the intersection of the volumes. The project aimed to create a house, where the interaction of these forces provoked a sensual and emotional experience of the different spatial conditions. We aim to create an elegant solution to the condition of habitability, integrating the garden of the house so the family room is part of the landscape garden, thus creating an informal open space, calm and composed abroad to establish contrasts between the private and everyday experience of the city.
