Built along the fifties in Almada, Emidio Navarro High School (1956-1958) initially worked as a Technical School (School of Industrial and Commercial Almada), and later became a high school. Already established as a school, the Escola Secundária Emídio Navarro (ESEN), recently included in a modernization program, fund which financed the functional part and helped to renovate and expand.
The original structure has been fully respect, as it hits, keeping the vertical columns and aisle access. The materials that make up the school, both constructive as well as structural systems were observed during functional reorganization, which involved isolation and structural reinforcement. A Unit host class areas and key complementary functions, reorganization allow full optimization and improve overall performance. Through the north entrance and along the first floor of Unit A shows the areas of management and school support functions as a library, in direct contact with the environment.
The gym (Unit B) also remain, and add additional spaces, such as restrooms and health center. The functions of the former workshop add to the new building (Unit C) and divided into three levels: electrical and mechanical on the ground floor laboratories and computer rooms on the second floor and faculty offices on the floor from above. In a new second building (unit D), proposed housing and a sports area on upper deck, on the other hand, the new dining hall, social areas and recreational areas located on the ground floor. The outdoor areas were extensively remodeled and reorganized to accommodate the recreational areas of living and sports.
