Architects Atelier Zündel & Cristea shared with us their Grenelle Tower project located in Paris, France, which has been praised by the MIPIM AR Future award prizes. At a time when Paris is reviewing its ambitions of “the grandeur, the wealth of diversity of the city, incorporating vertically towers generating density change.
In a country where speed is not necessarily a condition of efficiency, and where “quality of life” amounts to “the art of living”, a purely geographical and territorial expansion based on the American model is not viable.
First, we imagine the tower of an initial volume, which considers a “texture space”, consisting of slabs stacked vertically to a height of 200 meters. Within this strong and uniform texture, we applied a dynamic training process using a vacuum tube collector. In motion, this cavity becomes a generator of space, a dynamic and fluid evolution of the construction. Your topology will help us define the properties such as proximity, contiguity and continuity.
More specifically, we compare the tower to the diversity of the city: the uniform fabric houses in Paris, the rapid transit network, squares, parks, avenues, places both known and unknown to the public meeting Paris.
