Mexican architecture office ROW Studio magazine was invited by the Glocal Design to design your exhibition stand for a furniture and design fair in Mexico City. The construction and material for the stand were sponsored by Masisa, the largest producer of MDF in Latin America and who needed the stand to function as both showcase its line of finishes and exemplify the possibilities of the product. They chose two sequences of colors ranging from black to white in the first case, including some materials with wood texture and dark green to orange in the second case.
Because MDF can not bend to generate curves, we decided to use them as a sequence of shots that generate virtually a complex curved surface, materialized by the negative of the wire frame of the volume contained in a box formed by the orthogonal modulation of the panels cut with CNC router. When the planes intersect in the three directions of space, they form a grid of shelves used to display and store magazines and other products.
The entire stand was intended to function as rest station in which fairgoers could sit and read the magazine, held outside in a cocoon enclosure that isolates the noise, lights and excitement surrounding. Four elements act as crooked as benches and storage space.
The 170 station components were assembled, and Glocal Design first presented at Habitat Expo in Mexico City from 26 to 28 May 2011 and presented several times at trade shows all year. After completing his cycle of exhibitions will be placed permanently in the boardroom of the offices of the publisher.
The product was used in the stand is DecoMDF Masisa 15mm., A board coated on both sides with decorative foil in a wide range of colors and designs, melamine resin-impregnated low emission of formaldehyde, which gives a total area closed, non-porous and resistant to surface wear.
