As a service-oriented organization to the community, Tsimshatsui district , for over 50 years in Hong Kong , the Tsimshatsui Kaifong Welfare Association is dedicated to nurturing community life with respect, in particular children and older adults.
This project is a renovation to change the footpath from the Kaifong Community Hall to a small hill. This project re- structured the trail in sections of ramps for the elderly and disabled. Moreover, given a series of furniture designed with unique design, including fixture poles , railings and benches , designed for the convenience of the elderly.
These lamps not only act as a functional street furniture , lighting creating the footpath and about, but are also a symbol for Kaifong Association which represent its mission and nature of service, which is to serve the community equally to all citizens .
In total , there are five lights , three of which have a circular shape , embracing friendship to each of the three trees located on the ground for decades, trying to strengthen the mission of the association to work with children and the elderly, and the other two trees, the lights are open, as if someone opened its arms to welcome in the Tsimshatsui Kaifong Welfare Association. All posts are made of cast steel with epoxy paint finish .
Another unique design were extruded aluminum lights along the top of the parapets on the road . It was an integration of the handrail and the role of light . A subtle pattern of shadows cast on the inclined surface of the extruded profile , which creates an attractive visual effect , helping people to identify the direction of the path at night.
