Elegant Grand Stade de Casablanca Stadium by SCAU Archi + Design

The French study SCAU in collaboration with local Archi DesignHave designed a new stadium for the Moroccan national football team in Casablanca. The new sports stadium will be built in the grounds of a former quarry and is known for passive solar design, through layers of concrete in the form of fins which also allow natural ventilation. Its construction is expected to complete by 2013.

The total area is 100 hectares and the project, which will seat 80,000 people, using the rugged sunken left the quarry. Structurally, the stadium will be surrounded by large sheets of perforated concrete, which act as umbrella and allow natural ventilation. In the space between the plates and chairs, is generated which serves as a buffer garden and a spa oasis for viewers.

Natural light is filtered by the blades, which were carefully designed to allow entry of an optimum amount of sunlight. The blades extend above the seats and you get shade for spectators, ending in a large central hole on the court. With this project, offices and Arch Design SCAU recently won first prize in the competition to design the new stadium.
