Dolbeau-Mistassini Theatre by Paul Laurendeau Architecte, Jodoin Lamarre Pratte

In 2006, architect Paul Laurendeau won the international competition to design the 491 seats (seats) Dolbeau-Mistassini Theatre with Jodoin Lamarre Pratte & Ass. Architectes. The building strategically located in the center of the city of Dolbeau-Mistassini, represent a new cultural institution. Its facade faces the street and uses elements found in the theatrical language: carp, white lights, black paint, display posters and signs. The building organized along a central axis, establishing symmetry and path the largest circulation to the public from the main entrance door leading to the foyer.

The foyer designed to accommodate a variety of applications, from exhibitions, conferences, banquets for parties and special events. Inside the theater is cylindrical, with a space for the orchestra, has a gentle slope of 11 rows, 293 seats and a flat roof sound with a huge lamp (spider) lights hung from the center. Two semi-circular terraces of 2 rows and 99 seats each, help to increase the effect of altitude in space. The colors used are red, black and gold.
