The DnB NORD bank building is located on Calle Skanste a new multifunctional area north of Old Riga. The Bank is the first office building in the newly formed block and a new interpretation of urban / architectural thereof. With an angular location suggested that the building was a limit / shaping clear corner of the block. But at the same time, the building was created as an open, welcoming and inviting the participation of visitors and workers.
The building comprises two separate volumes of 10 floors each, connected by vertical transparent communication core. The volumes are covered by a large rectangular one roof slab at the top. The free area under the roof creates a new kind of space. The use of this space try to erase the boundaries between interior and exterior of the buildings to create a welcoming environment and a comfortable, smooth entry from outer space to inner space .
In addition, the outdoor space of the street Skanste is a “vacuum” under the ceiling plane, and despite the short front of the building creates a spatial connection with the main street Skanste. The building is accessed through the following two entries in the roof frame. An entry is established for visitors to the bank branch on the first floor, the other – for bank employees working in the building.
The bank’s main plants are available as free plant offices for bank employees. Will also be a dining room, classrooms, meeting rooms, server room, in the roof floor – meeting rooms, a exhibition space. In the basement are some of the parking lots, and the rest of the cars would remain in the common parking building in the center of the block, which was built in the future. The building facades are covered with slabs of dark stone with a matt finish surface, a series of crystals with aluminum, aluminum panels and frosted black glass lines with integrated lighting.
