CS 639 – ZD and A Architects
In the northern section of Polanco, a neighborhood that is currently a high growth and vitality, is also to become one of the most emblematic of the city of Mexico, stands Cervantes Saavedra 639, a new mixed-use project designed by the Mexican firm ZD + A (led by architect Yuri Zagorin)
his unique piece of architecture, is part of a real estate turmoil over recent years has transformed the urban landscape of the area, which includes contributions from architects + LAR Fernando Romero (Soumaya Museum) and David Chipperfield (Jumex Museum) . However, in this framework, the project de Cervantes Saavedra 639 features a unique combination of pure geometric, bold color and contextual integration, aspects that contrast sharply with the formal and stylistic extravagance of some of its close neighbors.
Raised in order to maximize space efficiency and flexibility, the project included a series of unorthodox design decisions to multiply the possibilities of building functional and operational. On the one hand, the scheme free of such plants to adapt space to changing requirements of different users and programs. And secondly, with the aim of increasing the spatial flexibility of the building, the structural solution was designed so that the space for the depth of the reinforcement of support could enable the mezzanine as a sort of loft or mezzanine that can grow useful area of ??the interior. Also, the levels for the parking area, installed a series of vehicle lifts them to increase the capacity of space and significantly increase the number of cells available.
One of the most unique aspects of the project is certainly the facade, which is defined by a sensual game of hide which can articulate the relationship between interior and exterior of a sensitive, intelligent and creative. The simultaneity of Layers mitigate the negative effect of external factors, especially sunlight and noise from both the bustling streets of Polanco and the ring road. At the same time, lockkeys control and expansion of interior space to an exterior balcony reinforce the overall strategy to control these and other possible sources of visual pollution and / or hearing.
