Mithun’s award-winning design reflects the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s respect for his or her ancestral lands and heritage. The sustainable design features interior and exterior spaces which are specific towards the Coeur d’Alene people, the nearby Palouse prairie and it is forested esturine habitat. It signifies the standard Bald eagle Staff transported by Coeur d’Alene Tribal people, referred to as “The Indian Flag” or even the “Tattered Flag.” A brand new entry approach encourages site visitors to have interaction using the unique landscape from the site with an interpretive walk featuring native plants. A water fountain is really a indication of the value of nearby rivers, chain ponds and Lake Coeur d’Alene. The expansive landscape features a field interspersed with a sizable dance circle that benefits Julyamsh, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s annual powwow.
