The proposed concept for the site was to transform a building for office use only, in a mixed-use, either in development incorporating offices, shops, restaurants and residential use, seeking to create a new destination integrated into the local area. The architects chose to place the buildings around a new courtyard in the center of the site, which is connected by a path public and a public use area to the surrounding streets.
The key elements were the introduction of an activity in the area, offering a mix of uses including retail, restaurants and the introduction of housing, generating activities both day and night, so creating good management and a controlled environment which is reflected in the design of urban areas: commercial, public spaces and pedestrian routes. Located in Camden, the project is part of an urban complex of medieval streets and modern buildings and traditional urban blocks. This environment created a dramatic impact on the design of the project.
The scheme consists of complex volumes, which are fragmented and reduced in scale to match the surrounding buildings. These volumes are an impressive architectural sculpture, characterized by a combination of bright facades. Each facade is unique, unlike his height, orientation, color and its relationship with natural light. The primary elements are glass, steel and ceramics. In each of the ceramic is used with different shades and colors that correspond to the adjoining buildings, which helps integrate the system in the immediate urban environment.
In the center of the system is a large courtyard, where public activity is concentrated with cafes and restaurants in the square where it generates social life, improving the urban identity of the site. A large facade of six feet high, all-glass provides greater transparency, five passages through a system THS Courty allow permeable and invites passers-by to the shadow generated by this great tree of 20 m in height.
