Detached house located on the sidewalk west of the Street Hill Franciscan , is part of a housing similar in design and surfaces, 1982. The project involves the renovation and expansion of the house , originally one story , which had to be extended for a second and remodeling in the first.
Customer concerns , light and spatial qualities of areas. Remained the backbone of the first floor , which had to be strengthened to support the second floor. It respected the zoning of the house original , the division of 2 zones ( north – south , private – public ) through the shaft access . In this intermediate area of access -hall was projected the stairs to climb to the second floor , a straight line unbroken allowed stretching this area so as to give prominence , coupled with a double height across the entire depth of the house. This place central in importance and location provides geographical links east – west and collected north light through a skylight continuous at the top. In the part central is crossed by a bridge designed to boost the relations on the second floor .
The living and dining room are always presented as the darkest part of the house, it was decided to offset two main east-west between the first and second floors that allowed the completion of two skylights perimeter . In addition, a central north-south that marks the difference between the living and dining rooms across vertically two floors . This area is surrounded on its sides eastern and southern of the service area , which are connected to the front yard and backyard of the house , creating an movement independent .
In the area northwest on the first floor is located master bedroom with en suite , accompanied by a desk. mainly for the 5 children , 4 bedrooms (three giving the north and east ), 2 bathrooms and a living room (west ) .
From volume north of the second floor is projected terrace on the headpiece west . A blank wall off the terrace with back garden, to create an isolated space , aimed at the distant views , hill Manquehue Andes in its curve to the west.
The system beams inverted and cross between them, allowed the volume of the living room on the second floor is supported only on two steel columns 12 cm in diameter, and mark the outside terrace that overlooks the backyard , casting light artificial embedded in them. The materiality of the work on the first floor is confined masonry and some walls new concrete . The second floor was built with metal frame traditional , veneer brick colima , with different shades.
