Lapa neighborhood in São Paulo is marked by the old industrial occupation Santos-Jundiaí used po. About project is the Mercado Municipal da Lapa SESC Pompeia, and just next door, the bus terminal, and the Lapa station CPTM.
Estação Ciência is a center of scientific dissemination, founded by CNPq in 1987 and integrated with the USP since 1990. A large exhibition area, meant for students, occupies a house built in the early twentieth century it housed a textile factory. The factory sidings had internal and 140-meter platforms associated with the buildings and out of supplies. The group, which is under consideration for heritage hostel, still harbors a second parallel strand functions as an activity center for people with special needs. Between the two brick buildings there is an open space with trees and cobblestone floor, where trains arrived.
Given the need for a new cafe, the proposal was to incorporate this system at the same level of the platform deck, the place of entry and movement of visitors. The quality of the game defined inner landscape of a new lightweight construction, which respect proportions and at the same time, attempts to highlight the delicacy of the place.
The strategy was to avoid as much interference that the project would produce, so we opted for an independent steel structure 17 meters long, 3.40 wide, and a height of 2.40 meters.
Arise only two foundation blocks to directly support the new structure in suspension. A central beam coverage depends on another floor, and ceiling levels and the cross are in balance. The coating is specified to avoid overload and distortion wood, glass and metal shutters.
The glass panels slide to promote the flow through the platform and cross ventilation. The blinds allow easy cleaning of the glass. The interior space is organized by the service desk, a flat piece, which houses all the facilities and equipment necessary for the proper functioning of the cafeteria.
