With a call for bids for a project in two-level BPGM law firm, we start with a clear division: a flat, large, operations, and the other a slightly smaller, meeting room and administrative area.
Having defined the division between social and functional level, the need arose show the architecture, the vision of BPGM clients and lawyers.
Given this situation, it was decided organizing the office radially: Each meeting room would be on the perimeter, with exterior views and natural lighting, and in the center, the focal point for visitors, a large library would be located organized flows to the different rooms.
The natural lighting of the library and the halls is guaranteed by the glass panels continuous in each division of the perimeter rooms.
However, the library had won a great symbolic importance to become the organizational element plant and flows. Therefore, there was a need for it to not only be a place to store books, but also the element that represents the ideology of the office. Your responsibility would be between two edges: a well-organized library, but also an interesting element and different, Sober to avoid compromising the reliability and credibility of the office, but innovative and contemporary, as the essence of BPGM. There was then a kind of conflict between tradition and innovation.
In response, an idea emerged: the library would be a kind of small maze, with unusual angles and corridors open and closed. In addition, some rooms with windows could look inward, and others would be completely closed.
It was also decided that the library never touch the ground. He became a floating element, mysteriously suspended 40 cm above the slab.
The lawyer’s job is essentially cerebral. Emerges between agreements and discussions, but it is a work of services, based on the people and knowledge. The library in the center of the office is nothing more than a representation of collective knowledge available to customers.
This abstract knowledge is embodied in a ethereal, floating, not touching the floor or the sky, a small labyrinth that contains the knowledge of the office and, although contemporary, expresses tradition.
