The curved shape of the building and dense screen against traffic create a protected space on the front. The curve follows the outer edge of the site in order to maintain this space as wide as possible. Facilities include four main features: base, the screen, tower and the bridge. This formal principle is reflected in the expression, functions, structures and materials. The base (1 st and 2 nd floor), including the waterfront, the front yard and solid at the south end that dissolves slowly in the slabs and structural columns. The increasing openness of the structure to the north is an invitation to the solution of future urban development of the site.

The base is constructed entirely of concrete cast in situ. The secondary structure elements are steel and aluminum. The aim has been to promote a rough appearance. The garage, workshops, dressing rooms, technical rooms and warehouses are located in these two lower floors.

The screen (3 rd and 4 th floor) is the most prominent feature of the facility. It is based on a cantilever which is supported on the base. The screen is designed for the roof, the west facade and the floor of the second and third floor stand out as one of the elements. In order to emphasize the form, choose natural copper plates for coating. The roof is compact, cellular glass in steel plates. The copper cladding is attached to metal brackets in the cells by the glass.

The screen contains the bedrooms and living room for contingency equipment and administrative functions. The display opens to the front yard, water and mountains. The side facing the front yard is untreated larch and glass.

To clarify the rhythm and note in a better way the curved shape, vertical columns are designed and slender. The function of these pillars is to strengthen the front against the wind and the bearings of the windows. The roof and floor of the fourth floor are inclined to open up to fully visualize the mountains. On the second floor there is direct access to the balconies of all rooms, which are found throughout the length of the building.

The structural elements of the screen are made of steel and hollow core. The steel beams supporting the roof corrugated sheets, while the coating, in addition to glass, is mainly made of wood. The aim has been to promote an expression refined, processed, characterized by wood, glass and shiny surfaces.

The tower rises from the base. The asymmetrical positioning in relation to the front yard creates tension, while the tower serves as the object of the union at the facility. The design of the tower is due to the training needs of fire and the evacuation of smoke in the stairwell. The balconies are used for relaxing during the year of going inside the smoke, and to practice rescuing people .

The bridge extends below the screen and connects to the tower. It stands a few feet from the ground to visually highlight the division between the city and the service area of the fire without forming a barrier and to establish a connection . A clear distinction is drawn to the area that requires special considerations, the general public is able to ignore the activities of firefighters from the bridge without being on the road.

The bridge contains rehearsal rooms with direct connection to the tower. It also serves as a roof over the parking of the fire department. The main structural elements of the bridge are steel beams. The exercise room is a clinker brick box. This material was chosen because of its ability to withstand high temperatures (200 to 300 ° C) and its insulating properties. The lining of the bridge is untreated larch which gives the sensation that the bridge is a single large wooden beam.
