The land is covered by a thick forest of new native, Myrtle, Hazel, Ulmos, Cinnamon, had and Lumas. This condition of interiority that generates the thickness of the wood, contrasted strongly with the meeting of the open sea on its border, which fully dominates its surroundings and the southern channels of the archipelago of Chiloé. These elements are leading the architectural design of “AO”, a term that comes from the relationship of the native vernacular of the area, Los Chono, with the sea, its tour and which means “protected bay” in reference to be protected, but at the same time visually dominate what they called their “maritorio.”

Under this logic, the work stands below creating a mixed-use abroad, among piles that are articulated and relate visually to the forest, then enter a higher level, sheltered and stealth, to meet then from the inside with a breathtaking triple-height glazed overlooking the sea.
